Teaching Center & Taoist Hermitage
The Phoenix Taoist Center (PTC) operates a teaching and practice facility in Phoenix, AZ, and has recently acquired a 20-acre Taoist Hermitage formerly run by Livia Kohn and her husband, Tom.
Located in Pinon Springs, New Mexico (near the town of Magdalena), this property will provide space for members and benefactors to reside and practice there, as well as for inviting and housing other Taoists. We will also be offering live-in study programs at this facility.
The Three Peaks Taoist Hermitage will be sustained through donations, memberships, and the production of Taoist publications and media projects. It will not, however, serve as a place for commercial-type events. The site will emulate the traditional manner of how hermitages, temples, and cloisters functioned in ancient Chinapurely as a place for practice, learning, and solace.

Taoist Meditation Practiced
at the Phoenix Taoist Center
The Taoist methods taught here derive from Chang San-Feng (a famous Sung Dynasty Taoist Priest and attributed founder of T’ai Chi Ch’uan). Chang’s sitting, standing, walking and Taoist Yoga Eight Brocades practices are simple to learn and are exceptionally effective for attaining tranquility and developing qi.
FREE booklets detailing Chang’s methods are available to anyone visiting the Center.
